Are your products water soluble?Updated a year ago

There is a lot of misunderstanding online regarding products’ water solubility, so let us try

to explain this issue better. Most times, people refer to the water solubility of ingredients

when a product contains silicones. This is crucial, because if your product contains non-water-soluble silicones you need to use sulfates to wash them out, otherwise they will

build up on your hair and scalp making it look limp, dull and flat. Sulfates are very effective

but very harsh cleansers, and they’re not recommended for curly hair because they dry it

out. That’s why you should steer clear of products that contain non-water-soluble silicones.

Curlsmith products don’t contain any type of silicone, so you don’t have to worry about

that.

When it comes to the overall product, no cream can be water-soluble. Conditioners, Leave-

ins, and styling creams, are all blended with natural oils that bring the hair moisture. By

their nature, oils are not water-soluble, but they are not as occluding as silicones so they will

easily wash off with a simple sulfate-free cleanser. The cleanser’s molecules will break

down the oils and make sure that they are lifted from the hair and scalp, removing all sorts

of dirt and buildup.
